University of Cambridge chooses TermTime

In February 2020, the University of Cambridge chose TermTime to deliver a scheduling solution across the institution as part of their Education Space Scheduling and Modelling (ESSM) project.

The ESSM project will enable the University, its Schools, Faculties and Departments to:

  • Timetable teaching and exams more easily and efficiently;
  • Schedule activities into space more easily and efficiently
  • Gather and analyse data on the use of space efficiently and accurately
  • Model the use of education space across the estate in order to support informed strategic decisions about estate development.

Manchester Metropolitan University chooses Semestry

Birmingham City University choose TermTime and ExamTime

Earlier last year, Birmingham City University chose TermTime and ExamTime to deliver an integrated teaching and examination timetable solution across the institution.

Birmingham City University has chosen the full TermTime suite of services as part of an on-going programme to enable their students to engage and progress to successful achievement. Coherent, accurate and well-designed zoned timetables will be part of the strategy to maximise student satisfaction and the learning experience.

Birmingham City University is a university in Birmingham, England. Initially established as the Birmingham College of Art with roots dating back to 1843, it was designated as a polytechnic in 1971 and gained university status in 1992.

The university has three main campuses serving four faculties, and offers courses in art and design, business, the built environment, computing, education, engineering, English, healthcare, law, the performing arts, social sciences, and technology. A £125 million extension to its campus in the city centre of Birmingham, part of the Eastside development of a new technology and learning quarter, is opening in two stages, with the first phase having opened in 2013.

We are delighted to announce that Aarhus University has selected Semestry as their supplier partner for the delivery and implementation of their course and examination planning project.


With our industry partners, Eveoh and In Principo, the Semestry led consortium won a detailed and comprehensive tender process with a strong focus on quality, usability and end-user student and staff satisfaction.

Aarhus University is one of the largest and second oldest university in Denmark with over 40,000 enrolled students.Aarhus University is a globally oriented, academically diverse and research-intensive university that stands for quality and the continued pursuit of excellence in research and research-based education.

As part of the consolidation strategy on the most business critical IT-systems at Aarhus University, the project team conducted an extensive and thorough appraisal of solutions from a range of international suppliers.

The TermTime  and ExamTime solution was selected to meet the aim of consistency of the core work processes, general common overview, reusability of data, smooth data exchange between the administration and the teaching environment, process optimisation and availability of personalised information and notifications.

Per Guldbæk Larsen, Program Manager at Aarhus University said “we are confident that the chosen solution will honour our target and key success factors; easy and quick availability, personalized look and feel, and very supportive tool for the university when designing workflows in the planning process in a much more automatic and informative way.”

Reykjavik University selects TermTime

Reykjavik University (RU) is a vibrant international university located at the heart of Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland. Reykjavik University is Iceland’s largest private university with 3,500.

Leon Smith departure

Semestry announce that Leon Smith is to leave the company on November 7, 2017.

Leon has been Director of Services at Semestry since the beginning of 2016 and has provided his full support to the company and senior management team during that time.

He is leaving to take up the role of interim Head of Timetabling at Birmingham City University and a number of strategic consultancy engagements. Whilst we regret losing Leon, we respect his commitment to the HE sector and express our thanks for his contribution to establishing an ethos of service excellence and responsiveness to client requirements across the company.

Leon said “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Semestry. To have the opportunity to work with such excellent professionals and play a part in shaping a young, vibrant company has been one of the most rewarding of my career. I am now looking forward to this next stage in my career.” He added, “I said when I first took up this post that I believed Semestry is the future, and I still believe that now. I look forward to seeing their continued success as they further establish themselves and their burgeoning reputation for timetabling excellence.”
